Mission Statement

We, the members of the Home & School Association of
St. John Berchmans Cathedral School, will strive to
support and enrich the faith of all God’s children
through prayer, praise and thanksgiving to God.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, working with the
staff and children, we strive to meet the challenges of
providing for the spiritual, physical, monetary and
educational sustenance of our Christian community.

Volunteer Manual 2009-2010

Each year the parents of SJBCS students are offered a number of volunteer opportunities to assist the school and the teachers. Below you will find a brief description of volunteer opportunities for the upcoming school year. Please note that this list does not include every volunteer activity. Activities may include field trips, classroom activities, retreats, etc. Families are not expected to participate in all activities. Please take your time in choosing the areas where you would most like to help, and know that all efforts to help our school are truly appreciatedThank you once again for considering these volunteer services which greatly enhance the lives of our students, teachers, and staff. Remember, no experience needed!

 
HSA Volunteer Opportunities:

Great American Fundraiser/Sept.10th-Oct. 2nd

Red River Revel/Oct. 3rd-Oct.10th

SJB sponsors a food booth at The Red River Revel, an arts and music festival held at the Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. Volunteers are needed to assist in manning the booth.
 
Monster Mash/Friday, Oct. 30th:
Volunteers are needed to help set-up, organize and supervisor game booths, concessions, tickets, clean-up, etc.  
 
Library Book Fair/Nov. 2nd-6th & Feb. 22nd-26th:
Volunteers are needed to help automate our library. During the Book Fair, volunteers are needed to take money, help the children select items, and bring snacks for our volunteers.
 
Pancake Breakfast w/ Santa: Saturday, Dec. 5th

SJB Families enjoy all you can eat pancakes at Applebees (Bert Kouns location) and a visit with Santa.  Our Beta Club graciously gives their time as servers and table busers.

Catholic School's Week/Jan. 31st-Feb. 5th:
Volunteers are needed to assist the Receptions Comittee with refreshments. 
 
Cookie Dough Fundraiser:

Spring Auction,"A Taste of Mexico" April 24th: Volunteers are needed to help coordinate food, donations, decorations, thank you notes, etc. This is our largest fund raiser of the year and we need many volunteers.
